Herbstakademie 2019
Herbstakademie 2019 took place from 16 to 18 October, 2019. The Herbstakademie is a cooperation of schools in the Osnabrück region with the university and the University of Applied Sciences Osnabrück. Its aim is to promote particularly talented and high-performing pupils in the upper school.
The Herbstakademie 2019 workshop based on two focuses; On the one hand, the pupils learned how to record and mix a pop-song. By sharing and rotating the production jobs, each pupil periodically served as record manager, audio technician or studio musician on one or more instruments. As the mixing happened in groups, different variations of the recording material were produced and compared.
On the other hand, the pupils were introduced to Sonic Pi. This text-based programing language provides the possibility of composing and arranging music by code. Using looped tracks and changing parameters or code lines in time, a live composition was written and performed on the presentation day on 20 October, 2019.
Based on the positive feedback of the pupils, a second participation of MTDML at the Herbstakademie in the following year was approved.
